Great Lakes GPR is honored to have been a part of the construction process by conducting a Structural Scanning (Concrete Scanning) Survey at Ford Field for a general contractor. Great Lakes GPR was contacted to conduct a Structural Scanning (Concrete Scanning) Survey for the purposes of; locating any utilities within the concrete, determine concrete thickness, locate reinforcement within the concrete, and locating any subsurface features within or beneath the concrete. As a result of using the application of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Great Lakes GPR was able to detect the existence of rebar and electrical conduit prior to the saw cutting and/or coring of multiple areas for the installation of new utilities at Ford Field.
Structural Scanning (Concrete Scanning) offers the means of detecting embedded objects within, and under, a variety of media including concrete, brick, asphalt, and soil. GPR can detect objects, changes in material, as well as voids and cracks.
